Shanidar III details


Date: 50,000 years old Location: Shanidar Cave, Northern Iraq Species: Homo neanderthalensis Discovered by: Ralph Solecki Date of Discovery: ~1955 Details: Many of the Shanidar specimens show evidence of pathologies. Shanidar III suffered from server arthritis of the ankle and adjacent joints and likely died of a puncture wound to the lung leaving extensive scarring to the 9th rib.
